On her way to the Kingdom of Vior, Lala encounters a young brother and sister who ask her for food instead of sweet potatoes. She decides to give them the cookies she had brought with her.
It seems that although the war in the Kingdom of Vior ended not long ago, the gap between rich and poor remains severe, and there is no end to the sight of impoverished children begging on the streets.
Though her heart aches upon hearing this, Lala finally arrives at the academy where Count Graetzel awaits her. In his youth, after witnessing the inadequate state of education in the country alongside Lala’s parents, the Count made a promise with them: to create a place where even poor children could receive an education.
