Makoto Hyakutake is a dull, unremarkable cop whose first life ends as a total “mob character.” As he lies dying, a flood of regrets washes over him—above all, the death of his beloved girlfriend Misaki, whom he parted from in a fight and failed to save. The only one he has ever truly loved is her; if he could live his life over, he swears he would protect Misaki no matter what. That wish is granted. Makoto is sent back ten years into the past, reborn as his younger self right after becoming a detective. Armed with foreknowledge of what is to come and everything he learned over those ten years, he throws himself into the struggle to change fate and, this time, protect Misaki to the very end.
