The protagonist has dedicated his entire life to preparing for civil service exams. One day, while walking through the Noryangjin district as usual, he stops by a cup rice restaurant for dinner.
“If your goal is to enter government service, I can make your wish come true immediately,” declares the audacious shop owner. Drawn in by these words, the protagonist agrees to the terms and conditions—and suddenly regresses to the Joseon Dynasty.
“Reach the position of Chief State Councilor (영의정). If you fail, we will proceed with forced collection of your soul.”
Kim Un-haeng must become Chief State Councilor while navigating the treacherous politics between King Yeongjo and Crown Prince Sado (who will infamously die in a rice chest).
Unlike typical regression protagonists, he doesn’t know how to make soap, guns, or steam engines. This is his arduous story as it unfolds now.
