Anise spends her days working to support the baron, her father, for her family is on the verge of collapse due to bankruptcy. Right as she convinces herself she'll have work 'til she's dead, she suddenly receives a marriage proposal from Julius, a beautiful young man from a family of dukes. Anise is perplexed by this sudden turn of events, but she soon realizes that Julius' goal is a marriage blanc, or a marriage without love.
