Three years later, the world’s largest kingdom announces the greatest sword-fighting tournament in history: the Hundred-Blade Grand Melee. No one knows what form the matches will take, but with a prize said to grant any wish, warriors from across the world gather. The story begins on the opening day of the Hundred-Blade Grand Melee, when a gentle, strangely young boy named Shu appears in the royal capital.
